Cheltenham Clues – Future Champions Novice Hurdle

The Future Champions Novice Hurdle (Grade 1) at Leopardstown on 27th December could provide some Cheltenham Festival answers.

In 2021, Willie Mullins and Appreciate It won the Future Champions-Supreme Novices’ Hurdle double, and Facile Vega will try to do the same after winning the first leg at Leopardstown in December.

In December, Il Etait Temps was behind his stablemate, but at the Dublin Racing Festival, he miraculously turned things around. After that race, a lot of people talked about Facile Vega’s defeat, but the winner got into the Supreme Court.

Other eyecatchers

In December, the third Ashroe Diamond was hampered when it finished last in a race where the first two home runners set very low fractions. The six-year-old mare is a major contender in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle and comes from the same family as festival winner Aux Ptits Soins.

The fourth Path D’Oroux, a winner at Navan who was ultimately held well, would not be out of place in the County Hurdle.
